Fabric Shopping and Dinner at the Keg Steakhouse
The latest trip Sharon and I took out was a very spontaneous one, with Easter fast approaching, and my having an urge to go out for dinner in business formal attire, I proposed the idea to Sharon and she liked the idea and quickly made arrangements and bingo, two days before the day we were set.
The plan was for Sharon to come home pick me up and we would head out to a restaurant, which one?, well we both decided that we would wait until the evening when came home and met me to decide where we would go for dinner.
So with all of the arrangements set, of course the question of what to wear is the next thing to pop into both Sharon and I’s head, as I always enjoy dining out in business formal attire, and this night was no exception. I asked Sharon and she suggested a couple of jacket and skirt combinations, but Sharon and I had already been out dressed like that before, and I so much enjoy dressing slightly similar when we go out. As I thought about the evening I had a few ideas about what I would like to wear out that I have not in the past, as well, I pondered the idea of wearing a longer skirt style, as Sharon prefers the longer skirt to the “career sexy” that I like to wear, but decided to leave it until the last minute for a final decision.
Another thing I thought about at the last minute was the fact that I had been talking with a seamstress friend of mine, Angela and she agreed to make a dress for me, as long as I got the pattern and fabric. Well, on the day before our dinner date out, the pattern arrived in the mail and I decided to ask Sharon to stop before we went to the restaurant to have a look at some fabric for the dress. So with that plan set, I was all ready for the nice evening out with Sharon.
The day arrived and I got home earlier than Sharon to get ready for the evening and after getting out of my casual work clothes, made my way to the bathroom for a nice long and hot shower. After drying off, I slipped into my lingerie for the evening, and I was still really undecided on which outfit, I slipped into a nice purple pair of silk and lace panties, and sheer nude pantyhose, one of my new lacy white medium support bras, my silky pink makeup coat and finally a low pair of black heels to protect my new nylons from running.
I looked over Sharon’s clothes and finally made the decision, Sharon would be wearing a calf length wool knit black skirt, and matching green and black wool knit top with a scooped neckline. I on the other hand would be in an equally long calf length winter white wool knit skirt and matching white wool knit turtleneck top. I placed Sharon’s outfit out for her, along with a gold anklet and a pair of brand new 3 1/2” black patent heels which I planned on wearing as well to match hers. I also left her out my Obsession perfume, and a brand new pair of matching nude pantyhose and finally a pair of long dangly gold earrings. With Sharon’s outfit all set, I gathered my things and it back to my room to get ready for the evening out.
I decided to do my makeup in my usual colours and “business style”, not too casual and not too formal. I did the lower lids of my eyes in dark purple, then the upper lids in medium pink. My eyeliner was a little darker than normal casual wear but definitely not formal darkness. I then applied my new mascara to give my lashes a nice full look and then my eyes were perfect, perfect for the office. I then brushed on my blush, not too dark and not too light and then finally my lipstick for the evening and decided that the darker more formal lipstick would be perfect. With my makeup done, I looked over the job I had done and I really liked it, I liked the colour of the lipstick so much that I left one out for Sharon to wear.
I then finished my look off with my gold anklet, a pair of my own long dangly gold earrings and a healthy spritz of Halston’s perfume and I was all ready for my outfit. I slipped on the skirt and sweater and looked myself over in the mirror and liked what I saw, and I was sure Sharon would as well. I then slipped on my black patent 3 1/2” heels, the same as Sharon’s and looked myself over and liked what I saw. For a minute I thought about a 3 1/2” pair of bone white heels that I had in the closet and with the skirt and top I was wearing it would look perfect, and as I thought, I decided to leave the final decision up to Sharon.
With my look completed, I settled in and waited for Sharon to come home from work, and when she finally did, she went straight to getting ready to go out. I decided that I would put one of each shoe on for Sharon to look over and decided. As Sharon did her hair and slipped into her clothes, she called me out of my room to talk to her and as I entered the bathroom were she was changing, I caught her in her dressed in her skirt for the evening and the lacy bra I got her for Christmas, which looked great on her, and that was it. She said “hi” and looked me over and said I looked nice and when I asked her she thought I would be wearing she indicated “I had a pretty good idea”, and I asked her to look over my shoes and make a decision and she told me to go with the white, but stick with the black purse and I agreed.
I then commented on the bra and decided that “what the heck”, might as well have another piece that matches. I then went to my lingerie drawer and pulled out the matching bra Sharon was wearing and as I walked by the bathroom, gave Sharon a flash to show her my bra and she just made a smirk and smiled and I told her that I would be ready in a minute.
Once we were both ready, we took a picture to remember the occasion and then I slipped into my spring coat grabbed my purse and met Sharon at the back door, and we were off.
We never decided were to go for dinner, but once we got into the car, it was decided that the Keg in the city of Mississauga was where we were going to go. Before we went though, I asked Sharon if it were possible to stop a local fabric store, as I was trying to find some fabric for a dress that a girlfriend on the internet was making for me, and Sharon said “no problem”, and we were off to our first stop of the trip.
We arrived at Fabricland, the same place I went to get the blue lace over satin Fabric on my special shopping trip with Ed, and I took the lead and started looking around. Sharon and I found the rack with the Bridesmaid’s fabric on it and I showed her the pattern and asked her about what she thought and said that she did not think it was right. Just about then a saleslady approached us and asked if we needed help and I took the lead explaining what I was looking for and showed the lady the pattern and she commented, “oh my what a lovely dress”, and I explained that I was looking for similar fabric. Well she walked off and headed towards a fabric area and showed us some Jacquard prints, and lone behold there was a material there, almost exactly the same shade as the one in the picture of the dress that originally caught my eye.
Sharon then took the lead and grabbed the fabric and took it over to the table were it was to be cut and the sales lady met us there and I showed her the pattern and we had a discussion on how much exactly I needed for the dress and eventually she cut it for me and wrapped it up and handed it to me and told me were to pay for it. Sharon again took the lead and since she had the “plastic”, she paid for the material and then we were on our way.
We arrived at the Keg and found a place to park at the rear of the establishment, the place was rather packed for a Thursday night, but Sharon and I expected it. Sharon and I then walked to the entrance and were greeted by a hostess that informed us that there was a little bit of a wait but, “you ladies are welcome to grab a table in the lounge”, to which both of us replied, “thanks”. So Sharon and I walked to the lounge area, grabbed a table and ordered a couple of drinks while we waited, and Sharon gave them our name so when a table was ready they would come and get us. After a few minutes and some chit chat between Sharon and I a waitress came over and asked if one of us was Sharon and of course told her she was, and we were asked to leave our drinks, as they would be taken to our table for us, and she informed us, “follow me ladies”, to which we both did. We were lead to a table in a nice quiet spot, and after hanging up my coat were ready for dinner. The familiar “are we ready to order ladies” came to my ears as our waitress took our orders for dinner.
Over dinner Sharon and I discussed the fall Wedding shoot and I asked her if I could use her Wedding dress as well as mine for the shoot, but she did not really like that idea, so I did not peruse it further. I also asked her if she would like to pose with me as well as a Bridesmaid, but she did not like that idea either, as she does not really like to get her picture taken as much as I do. Sharon and I had a wonderful dinner, shared lots of girl talk and such, and after dinner Sharon took the first trip to the ladies room, and right after she came back, I took mine.
After finishing my business I came out of the stall and was impressed at the very large sink and counter area they had, it was well lit and could easily hold about 15 women adjusting themselves at the same time, also there was a full length mirror that was available after to make sure your outfit looked right. After making sure I looked perfect, and adjusting my lipstick, I met Sharon back at the table and she had already settled the bill, so it was a matter of me slipping on my coat and following Sharon out the door the van and away we went home.
At home Sharon pulled out a movie and the two of us snuggled on the couch to enjoy the rest of the evening and at the end, Sharon pulled out a lovely white peignoir set and tucked me into bed, it was such a lovely evening.
